Dan Completes Incredible 600km September Challenge for Charity

Vista NW Managing Director Dan has completed his 600km September challenge - and has gone beyond his original target, covering an incredible 643km in just 30 days.
Back in August, Dan set himself a significant personal challenge: to cover 600km throughout September, combining a daily 5km run, 5km walk and 10km cycle, all while raising funds for Paul Cunningham Nurses and Children Today.
What started as a target of 600km ultimately became 643km across the month.
And, most importantly, the challenge has so far raised more than £4,000 for two charities that are particularly close to Dan and his family's hearts.
643km. 30 days. One very worthwhile cause.
Completing 600km in a month was always going to be demanding, but the biggest challenge for Dan wasn't necessarily finding the time - it was the physical toll of maintaining the distance day after day.
Running, walking and cycling such distances consistently for 30 consecutive days inevitably took its toll, but the knowledge that every kilometre was helping raise money for two important causes kept Dan going.
The challenge was created in memory of Dan's mother-in-law and father-in-law, Nicola and Roy, who both sadly lost their lives to cancer earlier this year. Dan chose to support Paul Cunningham Nurses following the invaluable support they provided to his family during an incredibly difficult period.
Supporting two charities making a difference
The money raised will be split between Paul Cunningham Nurses and Children Today.
Paul Cunningham Nurses provide specialist care and support for people living with life-limiting illnesses and their families.
Children Today supports children with disabilities across the UK by helping fund specialist equipment that can improve their quality of life and independence.
For Dan, completing the challenge was about much more than hitting a personal fitness target.
“The biggest struggle was the physical toll, but knowing what the challenge was for made the effort worthwhile.”
Thank you for the support
From the first kilometre to the final one, Dan has received an incredible amount of support from clients, colleagues, friends, family and the wider Vista NW network.
Messages of encouragement, donations and people sharing the challenge all helped keep the momentum going throughout September.
And while the challenge itself is now complete, the fundraising isn't quite over yet.
More than £4,000 has already been raised, but anyone who would still like to contribute can make a personal or company donation through the fundraising page.
